Highlights of the CPE Classic Dog Show

Richard became actively involved with purebred dogs in 1965 with the purchase of his first Afghan Hound. He then went on to exhibit and breed Borzoi, Skye Terriers, Harriers, Italian Greyhounds, French Bulldogs, Old English Sheepdogs, Scottish Deerhounds and Doberman Pinschers under the prefix "Kishniga" (Kishniga was in established partnership with Dr. John Reeve-Newson in 1971. In partnership, they have bred Group and Best In Show winning Dobermans, Old English Sheepdogs, Skye Terriers, French Bulldogs, Borzoi and Harriers. They have also owned and exhibited Group and BIS winning Lakeland Terriers, Norwich Terriers, Standard Poodles, Scottish Deerhounds, American Foxhounds and Whippets). Richard has owner-handled his dogs to many Best In Shows in Canada and the United States. He steered Ch Kishniga's Desert Song, a Borzoi, to the prestigious #1 spot All Breeds in Canada in 1977. He is past President and Chairman of the Board of the Canadian Kennel Club. He is President of the Ontario Sighthound Association, and a member of the Credit Valley Kennel and Obedience Club, the Santa Barbara Kennel Club, as well as the prestigious Morris and Essex Kennel Club. He has judged in Australia, France, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Sweden, United Kingdom, USA (including Westminster Kennel Club) and Canada. He is also a founding member of Borzoi Canada and Skye Canada. Judging Melbourne Royal 2009. Recently Dr Meen was the selected judge prevailing over the responsibility of selecting the Best In Show at the Westminster Kennel Club for 2016.

Cindy Cherry has grown with the world of pets and canines being her second breath. Throughout her early years she was educated with hands on experience working as a vet technician, animal caretaker at the Rochester Zoo in NY, a private kennel manager and even experiencing the world of equestrian conditioning.

Cindy's foremost exposure to the world of pets was operating her mobile dog grooming venture that allowed her to share her passion and grooming skills while promoting responsible pet ownership. Cindy is excited to be a part of the official CPEClassic commentating team with Dr Dick Meen for this inaugural event.

Cash and Prizes


The CPE Classic is really looking for the Best in Show. Prizes and prize pool funds are in the $20,000.00 bubble to bring the CPE Classic hosted by the Oakville District & Kennel Club with the support of the Canadian Kennel Club.

From puppies to champions, from veterans to junior handlers the opportunity to work with some of the greatest breeds of canines is here for all to experience!

Do Your Own Showing

If you would like to try the ring out yourself the opportunity is there. Trainers will be on hand to teach you the handling techniques in the official CPE Pet Ring. This ring will allow you the opportunity to run the ring and go infront of a certified CKC judge for the fun of it. You never know maybe your pet will go home best in show of its fun group.
